The Falcon team tackles space exploration’s toughest problems through the development of our reusable launch vehicles: Falcon 9, Falcon Heavy, and the BFR (Big Falcon Rocket). Currently responsible for delivering satellites into orbit and cargo to the ISS, these vehicles will be instrumental in extending humanity’s reach to the moon, Mars, and beyond. As a Falcon Build Engineer, you will own the relationship between the engineering development and production teams. You will master exotic manufacturing tools and processes, from initial concept development to full scale production, and will interact regularly with senior leadership during critical design phases. You have strong technical and interpersonal skills and you thrive in a creative, scrappy, and collaborative environment in which the best ideas change company level direction on a regular basis.


  • Lead the assembly and integration of Falcon launch vehicle structures, fluids, mechanisms and related systems
  • Develop novel manufacturing techniques and manage the transition from development to full production handoff
  • Actively engage with technicians in a hands-on fashion to facilitate and improve production processes
  • Devise and execute improvements to enhance production efficiency and quality
  • Create, maintain and communicate detailed plans and schedules
  • Develop supply chain for new product, and actively work with vendors
  • Understand, analyze and resolve manufacturing discrepancies while interfacing with key stakeholders


  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline
  • 2 years of manufacturing, fabrication, assembly or testing experience - internship or project team experience can supplement for industry experience


  • Master of Science in an engineering discipline
  • Experience with spacecraft or aircraft structural assemblies
  • Process development, facility and line layouts
  • Experience with NX and Teamcenter CAD and PDM systems
  • Knowledge of a variety of manufacturing techniques, equipment and processes such as: machining, welding, sheet metal forming, stamping, composite layup and assembly


  • Travel to vendors and SpaceX launch/test sites as needed
  • Intermittently able to work longer hours and weekends to support critical needs
