Description

Join our fast paced R&D group that supports the development of our Dragon spacecraft and Falcon rocket launch vehicles. This is a dynamic position that requires the ability to work on multiple systems simultaneously and troubleshoot anomalies.  

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the staging, installation, set-up, testing and de-staging of production, repair and overhaul of engines.
  • Collaborate with Propulsion Engineers on a daily basis, contributing to build and test aspects.
  • Troubleshoot engines and cell systems.
  • Operate test cell instrumentation and use computer network systems as well as test units as described in the test instructions.
  • Accept or reject test units based on calculated test data and results.
  • Perform work according to procedures, specifications and test instructions.
  • Responsible for cleaning of tools, valves, and regulators.
  • Responsible for maintaining a professional and neat work area.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2+ years of experience in mechanical fabrication.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 5 years of aerospace or automotive engines experience.
  • Experience in the aerospace or aviation industry, military, or other high-reliability operating environment. 
  • Experience with pressure, temperature, and flow measurement devices, and mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Completed training in the staging, installation, removal and de-staging of propulsion engines.
  • A&P license strongly preferred.
  • Strong basic computer, problem solving and decision making skills, and strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to work independently or as part of a team, meet aggressive schedules, operate and understand readouts on standard cell instrumentation and make full use of computer network systems.
  • Skill in operating and manipulating machinery and various hand and power tools.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to work all shifts and available for overtime and weekends as needed.
  • Repetitive assembly operations, grasping, standing, lifting, bending, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching, and carrying are generally required to perform the functions of this position.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. unassisted.
