PROPULSION TEST ENGINEER (DRAGON 2)

Description

The Dragon 2 engineering team is looking for an enthusiastic and creative individual to develop new test equipment and procedures for the next generation vehicle and subcomponents. You will be responsible for executing high-pressure testing campaigns plus fluid and mechanical design support while incorporating automation opportunities whenever possible.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work on a team to define test requirements and acceptance criteria
  • Develop the concept of operations for day-of testing plans and define ground support equipment required to execute those tests (pressure panel component specs, fluid schematics, etc.)
  • Author work order planning instructions and test plans to administer testing and brief technicians appropriately prior to test campaign
  • Execute test campaigns according to schedule by taking full ownership of tasks and driving them to completion on time
  • Provide feedback to design and build teams for automation opportunities and equipment standardization plus site-wide commonality
  • Maintain safety and contingency plans for all portions of the test
  • Assess personnel safety considerations during the planning phase of the test

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mechanical, aerospace or electrical engineering
  • 1+ year professional or internship experience in a test focused engineering role

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Proven history of driving projects from concept to completion
  • Experience operating high-pressure equipment, either pneumatic or hydraulic
  • Hands on experience with medium to high-pressure fittings, regulators, valves, etc.
  • Programming experience in any of the following languages: LabVIEW, Python, C#, C++, JavaScript, or Visual Basic
  • Experience with CAD and FEA software
  • Experience with electronic/fluid schematic design software such as Visio or EPLAN
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Well organized with meticulous attention to detail
  • Understanding of software and programming fundamentals
  • Familiarity with electronic circuit design/analysis

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to work long hours and weekends when needed
